What is a Skype Resolver?

A Skype resolver is a tool that identifies the IP address of any Skype user by their username. Once you have the abuser’s IP address you can find their personal information such as their PayPal name, Facebook, location, etc. If the abuser has made a serious threat or scammed you in some way you can now use this information to report them to the proper authorities. The most common thing you can do with an IP address is DDOSING. With DDOSING or Deliberate Denial of Service you can send anything to somebody’s modem. The person will be unable to use the internet from any device that connects to the overloaded modem or network.

If you can use the Skype resolver to find someone’s IP address can’t they do the same to you to abuse your personal information?

The answer is yes and no. In late 2013, Skype released an update that allowed you to change your privacy settings preventing anyone not on your contact list from viewing your IP address. However, if you have an older version of Skype or your username has been previously looked up by a Skype resolver and your IP address hasn’t changed since, your IP address can still be viewed by those not in your direct contacts.

Protect your IP Address on your PC
